So... Matty ripped this guy off, or was the other way around?

I managed to get a "carded" figure of this character from the "LUCHA FUERTE" line. You may guess the Lucha Fuerte was a lucha libre show from Argentina during the 80s and 90s. And you would be correct.

The figure was made by the company Plastirama with molds they stole to Top Toys' MOTU line. So, yeah, these are Masters of the Universe bootlegs.

Only seven figures were made for this line. The name of this character is "Plastiboy" and he comes with a helmet (that really looks like Ram-Man's helmet), a shield and a sissy pink bear (?), the bear is hollow and head pops up, he may be a weapon or something, I don't know.

But the fun thing about this figure (and the reason for this post's title) is this:

If you think you've seen that logo somewhere else, is because you have...

That's right! Plastiboy is Plastirama's mascot. Why? I don't know. Maybe they traded the toy line with the show for the inclusion of that figure and a banner on the credits. Really, I have no idea.

The question remains, if you're going to make your company mascot, at least you're going to make it look cool...

Oh... Right...

This figure is no longer with me. Now belongs to a Toy Breaker that enjoys crappy toys. Hope you enjoy it!

How do you translate a famous line with no meaning? Easy, phonetically

Somewhere, somehow, Argentinean company Plastirama was able to acquire (legally we hope) the rights to produce Flintstones figures. The line was called Los Picapiedras en Acción (Flintstones in action - In that way, this is not a bootleg, Picapiedras is the actual name that series had in Latin America).

The card is pretty beaten up and there's no year of production. Plastirama did stamp there logo in the card, but as you'll soon find out, if you're talking about QC that means close to nothing.

The figure, of course, is Dino, and he's not that bad. Six points of articulation and two accessories. The rest, still, is pretty cheap.

As for the title of the post, this is why:

That's how you would write Yabba Dabba Doo if you were pronouncing it phonetically in Spanish.

Teenage Mutant Ninja... What?

Well, this are not an Argentinean bootleg, but I saw this today and just had to write about it. Hes Leonardo from the TMNT, if you don't know who or what that is, then I just killed you for being a fucking alien trying to invade our home planet. Seriously.

Well, in this case T, M and N stand for the same words, but that second T... That's for "Tortoise"...

I actually like the sound of that, it's like the TV series/Pulp Comic/Arcade videogame kids dig on Earth II.

Also, he's pretty well sculpted for being so incredibly tiny (Just think that JLU Batman is almost as high as the card):

I no longer have this figure with me. It was sent to a Tortoise enthusiast in the US. But I can try tracking down another one if someone is interested. Just send me an e-mail: funforfreak@gmail.com

Green Lantern? No, these are the original CORPS!

These are the CORPS. A G.I. Joe compatible line made by a company called Lanard Toys that was actually part of the more important Pacipa Toys (of Super Amigos - Super Powers fame).

These are six figures of the first release of CORPS! when the used a smaller card. Later releases used a bigger one. I'll try to get some to do a comparison pic.

The figures are very similar to G.I. Joe and they are done in a better quality than some of the "official" figures we used to get here. On the back of the card they have a full description of the character's history and accessories. Also, they have like the most idiotic names ever since... Well, since G.I. Joe.

"Avalanche" (OK, not THAT bad)

"Brick Wall" (an NFL player, can have worst code names)

"Flashfire" (He's Icy cool when the Heat is on, that's cheesy but still OK)

"Whispering Willie" (what? It says here that he was discharged for being "too looney" for service... OK, I guess)

"Toxic Waster" (OK, so now this is just silly...)

"Lightning Mobutu" (?)

These figures are available for trade/sell. If you're interested, mail me: funforfreak@gmail.com

Why do you need Robocop when you have Robocopp?

This is an articulated rubber Robocop bootleg (I'm sorry, the PC term is Robocopp) that was used in Argentina as a way to tell children the drugs are bad. Again, the words "Industria Argentina" (Made in Argentina) are there, but there's no company. In fact, the back of the card is completely blank.

"Robocopp is proud to support the fight against drugs! Join him! Say no to drugs!"

(Note for parents and teachers: If you write with lots of exclamation points, children will listen).

Drugs are bad, stealing a beloved character and avoiding International Copyright laws by changing the name a bit is not. Learn from the best.

Misscarded Power of the Force figures

I don't really know a lot about these. They have no company stamp, and are clearly bootlegs made in China. What I do know is the story that the guy that found them told me: These figures were made in China and the company the imported them got them loose and carded them here to save on shipping costs. But when they did it they only decide (maybe they only had one) to use Luke's card for every figure.

Here's Luke Solo (or Han Skywalker)

And this is C3LUKEPO

Batman? More like Batmess...

In 1990, after the Tim Burton movie was released, the crappiest of all Batman bootleg figures was unleashed in Argentina. He's kinda rubbery, has no company, no character name, no nothing. Just the logo and the words Industria Argentina (Made in Argentina) written in the card.

I no longer have this figure with me. It was sent to a lucky/cursed collector in the US. But I can try tracking down another one if someone is interested. Just send me an e-mail: funforfreak@gmail.com

Misscarded Robocop figure

In the 1980s a company called J. Sulc was trusted with the Robocop and the Ultra Police line. Since the property wasn't that big, the good people at J. Sulc did a pretty crappy job. Robocop looks quite bad, but that's not the biggest QC issue of this figure...

Does he look like "Wheels" Wilson to you? The figure is complete with his gun and with the lack of protector Robo-Armor shield that the card mentions...

Many kids from Argentina knew who to blame when they didn't get the figure the needed to complete the set. On the other hand, who the Hell is "Wheels" Wilson? Robocop is clearly more badass.

Street Fighter Rescue Brigade?

In the proud Argentinean tradition of we-use-the-original-molds-but-call the-figures-whatever-the-hell-we-want-to-so-we-don't-have-to-pay-for-the-rights-or-anything-like-that. Like Fuerza T did with the original MOTU molds in 2003.

I found these three figures (in two two-packs), made with the GI Joe Street Fighter original molds by a company called Multiplast.

They are called Brigada Rescate! (Rescue Brigade) and it only has three characters Rudo Fierro (Tough Iron - Ken), Capitán Bermellón (Captain Vermilion - M. Bison) and Macizo Joe (Solid Joe - Sagat).

Apparently, Multiplast was able to get the original molds when Plastirama, the original company that had the G.I. Joe license went out of business. Maybe they stole them, I don't know...

I have both sets (since these are two two-packs and only three figures, one figure is repeated).

These figures are available for trade/sell. If you're interested, mail me: funforfreak@gmail.com
